Daylight hours, by city

Sunrise, sunset, day length and how fast the days are changing, for 1,222 cities across 237 countries.

The part worth knowing

Day length is the most familiar thing the sun does and the least useful. It tells you when the sun is up, not how high it climbs — and height is what decides whether your skin can make vitamin D, whether you will burn, and whether a solar panel produces anything worth having.

A June day in northern Norway runs for twenty hours with the sun skimming the horizon. A December day in Singapore is twelve hours with the sun almost overhead. The Norwegian day is longer; the Singaporean one delivers far more.
